Who We Are

Our website address is: https://briefvoy.com We provide travel intelligence, logistics, and fact-checking reports for independent travelers.

Comments & Community Interactions

When you leave a comment on BriefVoy, we collect the details you type into the comment form. To block malicious bots and protect our site from spam, we also track your IP address and your browser’s user agent string.

If you use the Gravatar service, a secure, anonymized string (a hash) made from your email address might be sent to them to check if you have a profile picture. You can review their privacy terms here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once we approve your comment, your Gravatar profile image will be visible next to your comment.

Media Upload Safety

If you register an account and upload images to BriefVoy, please ensure your images do not contain embedded location details (EXIF GPS data). Visitors to the site can download public images and extract that hidden location data.

Cookies and Tracking Data

We use cookies to make your browsing experience much smoother. Here is exactly how they work on our site:

  • Comment Cookies: If you drop a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. This is just for your convenience so you don’t have to type them all out next time. These last for one year.
  • Session Cookies: If you visit our login screen, we set a quick, temporary cookie to check if your browser handles cookies. It holds zero personal data and disappears the second you close your browser tab.
  • Login Information: When logging into an account, we set cookies to remember your login info and screen layout choices. Login cookies stay active for two days, and layout choices last a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps your login open for two weeks. Logging out clears these immediately.
  • Publishing Cookies: If you edit or publish an article on our backend, an extra cookie stores the basic post ID of the article you just modified. It carries no personal details and expires in 24 hours.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on BriefVoy may feature embedded elements like maps, videos, or social media cards. This content behaves exactly as if you visited the external website directly.

These third-party platforms might collect data about you, trigger their own cookies, run additional background tracking, or monitor how you interact with that content (especially if you are currently logged into an account on their platform).

How Long We Keep Your Data

If you post a comment, both the comment and its metadata stay in our system permanently. This allows our backend to recognize and automatically approve your future comments instead of holding them in a slow moderation queue.

For any users that create a profile on BriefVoy, we securely store the personal details they provide in their user accounts. You can view, modify, or completely delete your personal information whenever you want (except for your username). Our site administrators can also see and update that profile information.

Data Sharing & Security

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. However, your data may be processed in the following security scenarios:

  • Password Resets: If you request a password reset, your current IP address will be safely included in that automated recovery email.
  • Spam Prevention: We route visitor comments through an automated, intelligent spam detection software to maintain site security.

Your Personal Data Rights

If you hold a registered account on BriefVoy or have left public comments, you have the right to ask for an exported file containing the exact personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we completely wipe out any personal data we have on file. This excludes any data we are legally, administratively, or contractually required to keep for security and legal compliance.
